Nginious
Nginious wanted to distill a highly complex gin with harmoniously layered components, and they knew they needed to do something different from the start. They decided to make a "Blended Gin", a class of gin that had not yet been pursued by other producers. They divide their botanicals into four batches, differentiated by their unique characteristics. The fruitiness derives from the juniper, barberry and laurel berries. They also use sweet orange peel and fresh grapefruit for the citrus notes and round them off with completely peeled cardamom.
Nginious Swiss Blended Gin
This Swiss Blended Gin from Nginious is a mix of eighteen botanicals. Three fruity ones, 10 herbs and two roots, all of which is native to Switzerland. Oliver Ullrich and Ralph Villager create it, and they divided the botanicals into four groups and distilled them separately before blending it all together. The botanicals include clover blossom, blackcurrant leaves, bee balm and many more. Fans of contemporary gins, especially those with an herbal character, will love this one.
Tasting
Nose: Fleeting floral high notes that quickly sail away. Minty and menthol-laden green notes, fresh white cardamom lends a chai-inspired note. Hints of kiwano melon, tarragon and cucumber. Rain-soaked herbal notes that counteracts some rooty and earthy.
Palate: A thick bouquet of garden notes as well. Musky rose, bitter orange zest, lost of cardamom. In the end some lemon balm, anise myrtle and herbal green tea.
Finish: Long and warming with hints of orange zest, angelica stalks and chamomile tea.
